Hurricane Ike (2008)
On Sunday, September 14, 2008, in the wake of Hurricane Ike, a seven-member Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) team was requested to assist Public Safety Answer Points (PSAPs) in the Houston area. During the Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) deployments, a total of thirteen teams were sent to help three PSAPs in Galveston, Harris, and Orange counties: Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, Seabrook Police Department, and Bridge City Police Department. This was the first TERT activation for Texas.
Hurricane Isaac (2012)
On Thursday, August 30, 2012, in the wake of Hurricane Isaac, an eight-member Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) team was requested to assist at the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana. Texas deployed six TERT Telecommunicators and two TERT Team Leaders to assist the sheriff's office 9-1-1 center, whose staff had been working more than 40 hours without relief. This was the first state-to-state deployment by TERT, and the first deployment that recognized 9-1-1 as a resource during a FEMA-related incident.
Hurricane Harvey (2017)
On Monday, August 28, 2017, in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, a seven-member Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) team was requested to assist Public Safety Answer Points (PSAPs) in the Coastal Bend area. Throughout the next month, a total of nine teams were sent to help PSAPs in Aransas, Fort Bend, Galveston, Nueces, and San Patricio counties: Rockport Public Safety Center, Missouri City Police Department, Dickinson Police Department, Aransas Pass Police Department, and Ingleside Police Department. This was the first natural disaster that emergency management personnel knew of TERT, which resulted in more PSAPs requesting and receiving dispatch relief.
Hurricane Ida (2021)
On Thursday, September 1, 2021, in the wake of Hurricane Ida, a ten-member Telecommunicator Emergency Response Taskforce (TERT) team was requested to assist at the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana. Texas deployed one TERT Team Leader and one TERT Team member to assist the sheriff’s office 9-1-1 communications center, whose staff had been working non-stop since the hurricane made landfall on August 30, 2021. This was TX TERT’s second state-to-state deployment but the first time that they deployed with another TERT program. Florida TERT sent eight TERT members and worked alongside TX TERT members for 14 days.
Hurricane Ian (2022)
On Wednesday, September 28. 2022, in the wake of Hurricane Ian, multiple Telecommunicator Emergency Reponse Taskforce (TERT) teams from five states were requested to assist several Public Safety Answering Point's (PSAPs) in Florida. Texas deployed one TERT Team Leader and one TERT Team member to assist the North Port Police Department for up to fourteen days. This was TX TERT's third state-to-state deployment and was considered a historic deployment as over 200 9-1-1 telecommunicator from Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Ohio, Tennessee, and Texas came together to assist PSAPs in need.
